The Communities and Local Government Committee (CLG) questions Dame Judith Hackitt on the Interim Report of Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety.

Building regulations fit for purpose?

Dame Judith Hackitt, Chair of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety, is to appear before the CLG Committee to update MPs on the work of the Review set up following the Grenfell Tower fire.

The Review was established by the Department for Communities and Local Government in August following the fire at the tower block in west London in June in which 71 people died. Its interim findings are expected shortly, ahead of a final report in spring 2018.

MPs are likely to ask how about the key findings so far, whether building regulations are fit for purpose and how the Review is feeding in to the Public Inquiry.

This is the second time the Committee have taken evidence on Grenfell-related issues in public, the first being with the Secretary of State in October.
