Effectiveness
The session will hear scrutiny practitioners from across the country and examine any lessons that can be learned from overview and scrutiny at the London Assembly, the new combined authorities and other councils.
Members are likely to ask about the political independence of chairs and whether committees have the resources to carry out effective scrutiny.
Monday's session is the second in the inquiry which is examining the effectiveness of local authority overview and scrutiny committees, which were created by the Local Government Act 2000 as a way of balancing the increased powers of Leaders and Cabinets.
