The Health Committee has published correspondence from Professor Ian Cumming, Chief Executive of Health Education England, covering a range of health and social care workforce issues.

Health and social care workforce issues

Professor Cumming met the Chair of the Committee, Dr Sarah Wollaston MP, earlier this month. Following that meeting, Professor Cumming wrote to the Chair with further information on a number of issues:

  • Regulation of healthcare professions
  • Accreditation of prior learning for Nursing Associate courses
  • Medical specialty fill rates
  • Psychiatry specialty training
  • Emergency medicine speciality training
  • General practice speciality training
  • The impact of Brexit on the health and care workforce

The Committee is not planning any further work specifically on any of these issues at the current time, but they may be examined further in other work which the Committee is doing (such as its inquiry on Brexit and health and social care). Any relevant announcements will appear on the Committee's website as usual.
