Welcome to the website for the High Speed Rail (West Midlands – Crewe) Bill Select Committee. The Committee will be set up following Second Reading of the Bill, which is expected to take place early in 2018. On these pages you can find out more about the Select Committee stage and petitioning against the Bill.

The purpose of the Bill is to provide statutory authority for the construction of Phase 2a of HS2, which is planned to run from Fradley in the West Midlands to Crewe. The Bill was published in July 2017.

Next stages

The Bill's next stage will be Second Reading, the date for which has not yet been announced. If MPs vote in favour of the Bill the Committee's role will be to consider petitions against the Bill submitted by people, groups, businesses and organisations that are specially and directly affected by Phase 2a.

Further information about the Select Committee stage, including the membership of the Committee, will appear on these pages as it becomes available.
