Third oral evidence session announced

Witnesses

The sessions will focus on the witnesses' experience of delivering and scrutinising large infrastructure projects and National Audit Office's role in monitoring and reporting on the progress of the R&R programme.

The evidence sessions will start at 10:00am on Wednesday 30 January in Committee Room 18 of the Palace of Westminster. Giving evidence will be:

At 10.00am (approx.)

• Sir John Armitt, CBE, FREng, FICE, former Chairman, Olympic Delivery Authority
• Matthew Vickerstaff, Interim Chief Executive, and Stephen Dance, Director of Infrastructure Delivery, Infrastructure and Projects Authority

At 11.00am (approx.)

• Sir Amyas Morse, KCB, Comptroller and Auditor General, National Audit Office

In the first session the Committee will ask the witnesses about ensuring good governance in large-scale infrastructure projects, the role of a political figurehead and spokesman for the programme and how that worked for the 2012 Olympics and whether Parliament or the R&R Sponsor Body should be responsible for establishing the ‘why', ‘what' and ‘how' for the programme.

In the second session the Committee will ask Sir Amyas what role he sees for the NAO in scrutinising R&R and his view on the governance and accountability arrangements in the draft Bill including the relationship between the Delivery Authority, the Sponsor Body and the Estimates Commission.
