Leading architects and Crown Estate give evidence on UK's built environment

The House of Lords Committee on National Policy for the Built Environment takes evidence from leading architects Sunand Prasad and Quinlan Terry CBE. The Committee also hears evidence from representatives of the Crown Estate.

Witnesses

The evidence sessions will take place on Thursday 17 September in Committee Room 2, Palace of Westminster.

  • John Grinnell, Deputy Head of Development, The Crown Estate
  • Steve Melligan, Strategic Land Manager, The Crown Estate

Topics are expected to include:

  • What is your view of the quality of new housing and commercial developments over the last 30 years?
  • Does the National Planning Policy Framework put the right emphasis on design considerations in planning?
  • Is the Government doing enough to encourage and support good architecture and design?
  • How are the needs of pedestrians, road users and retailers assessed in busy shopping areas?
  • What are the key principles for successful long-term management of the built environment?
