Committee visits HIV charity in London

As part of its inquiry into the sustainability of the charity sector and the challenges of charity governance, the Committee visited Body & Soul, a charity in Angel, London.

Visit

On 27 October, the Committee visited Body & Soul, in Angel, London to understand more about their work, and to meet with the staff and service users of the charity.

Body & Soul is a charity promoting the respect, dignity and well being of children, teenagers, adults and families living with and affected by HIV.

The Committee met with the Director and Assistant Director of Body & Soul and toured the facilities. The charity's innovative approach to social care and the full range of services they provide was explained, from family therapy to legal advice.

Members of the Committee gained an insight from Body & Soul representatives about the challenges of securing sustainable funding and working with local authority partners and other organisations.

The Committee will be undertaking further visits as part of its work.
