Committee to consider locus standi

The Middle Level Bill Select Committee will consider the challenges to the petitioners "right to be heard" at the locus standi hearing on 25 June 2018.

Locus Standi

Locus standi is the right of a petitioner to appear before the Select Committee if they can demonstrate that the Middle Level Bill will have a direct and special effect on them.

Locus standi, however, may be challenged if the promoter of the Bill, the Middle Level Commissioners, disagrees that there is a direct and special effect. In that event, the Select Committee will hear both sides of the argument and then decide whether there is a right to appear.
