Health experts give evidence on NHS productivity and efficiency

Health experts, including representatives from OECD and NHS Improvement give evidence to the Long-term sustainability of the NHS Committee in evidence sessions focussing on funding models, productivity and efficiency.

Possible questions
In the first session the Committee asks witnesses:
- How does the UK compare with other OECD and EU health care systems in terms of funding and performance?
- What are the different models for funding health and social care across the EU and the OECD?
- Is there any evidence that different funding models improve the performance or sustainability of the system?
- Are there any countries which stand out in terms of their performance or reform to deliver sustainability?
- Do international comparisons suggest the UK model is sustainable?
In the second session questions focus on:
- Are the NHS and social care systems sustainable over the long-term (2030 and beyond)?
- How important is efficiency to the system's sustainability?
- What is the difference between efficiency and productivity? When the two are confused, what are the long-term consequences for the future sustainability of the NHS?
- How is NHS Improvement contributing to a more efficient and productive NHS in the long-term?
