Possible questions

Questions the Committee is likely to ask include:

  • How would a cut in tourism VAT help the UK's tourism and hospitality industries?
  • What impact is the current business rates regime having on the licensed trade operating in coastal areas?
  • Is the hospitality industry right to be concerned about the potential impact leaving the European Union will have on its workforce?
  • Is change needed at the national level to address challenges faced by the education and skills system in seaside towns, particularly at the secondary level?
  • Do local authorities have sufficient powers and resources to deal with the housing problems they face?
  • How much of a difference has the Coastal Communities Fund made? Does it have enough money?
  • What should the key priorities be for the Shared Prosperity Fund? How can coastal towns and communities benefit from it?
