The Select Committee on Social Mobility examines the role of Ofsted and of local authorities, combined authorities and LEPs in providing skills and employment opportunities for under-served groups of young people.

  • What makes a good quality apprenticeship?
  • Who should have overall responsibility for guiding young people through the transition from education to employment?
  • Who should be responsible for the accurate recording of data on young people, for analysing it, and for ensuring it is used to help improve outcomes for young people?
  • How local authorities, employers, schools and colleges can work together to provide a coherent system to support young people in the transition from school to work.
