Think tanks questioned on the transition from school to work

Representatives from three leading think tanks face questions from the House of Lords Select Committee on Social Mobility on Wednesday 22 July.

About this session

The Committee will use the session to explore the concept of the youth labour market and transitions from school to work. Questions the Committee are likely to put to the witnesses include:

  • How can the employment outcomes be improved for young people, particularly those in the 'missing middle'?
  • How do the post-16 systems in the UK fare at reducing skills inequalities compared to other countries?
  • What are the main elements of a successful transition system for school leavers into the work place? 
  • What will the impact of the reduction to the adult skills budget be?
