Freedom of Information

Both Houses of Parliament are committed to making information available to ensure our organisations are as transparent as possible. On this page we explain how to access information we hold.

We publish large amounts of information about our work on our website. If you are seeking information, please look at the ‘Information we already publish’ section first. We publish information which is commonly requested as well as responses to previous requests.

If you cannot find the information you are looking for on our website, it may be the case that it is held by a separate organisation or person, such as the Government, your local council or your Member of Parliament. You can check whether you are in the right place on the ‘Information we do not hold’ page.

You can also request information from us, in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

However, please note that the information you are looking for could already be published elsewhere or we might not hold it at all. It could also take up to 20 working days to receive a response from us. For these reasons, please check first to see if the information you are seeking is already published or not held by us.
