Social media community guidelines
To ensure our social media accounts are a safe environment, we ask everyone to follow these community guidelines:
We encourage respectful discussion. You don’t have to agree with everything other people say or share, but please treat everybody with dignity, courtesy and respect. Refrain from saying anything that might injure the reputation of another person, as this may be defamatory (whether as libel or slander). It is also good practice not to refer to third parties without their consent.
Our moderators will make an assessment as to which comments break the guidelines. Comments, direct messages, tags, or mentions expressing any of the following will be reported, and acted on, by our moderators:
- Threats of violence or harm towards MPs, Lords, staff, our moderators, or anyone else.
- Discrimination based on protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 and other diversity characteristics.
- Advertising or promotion of any services or pages.
- Spam, bots, and external web links.
We will block any users who repeatedly do not follow the guidelines, or post extreme content.
To keep comment moderation manageable for our moderators, we will limit the public reply and comment functions on some posts.
We are unlikely to respond to direct messages sent to any of our social media accounts.
This guidance is regularly reviewed and subject to change.
