House of Commons proudly joins Stonewall's ‘Trans Allies' Programme

As a partner on the Trans Allies scheme, the House of Commons will run a new training programme to help non-trans people understand how they can tackle anti-trans discrimination and ‘come out' in support of trans people everywhere.
 
Those taking part in the training will develop a deeper understanding of the impact of transphobia, along with the tools and language to better include trans people at work and in their everyday lives.

The new training programme will commence this October, with all staff in the House of Commons able to apply.

Jennifer Crook, Head of Diversity & Inclusion said: "The House of Commons is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all staff and to wholly supporting LGBT equality. Following on from achieving 23rd place in Stonewall's Workplace Equality Index, we are looking forward to launching the Trans Allies Programme to empower individuals to create a more inclusive culture for LGBT people in the workplace.''

“We know trans and non-binary people face abuse and discrimination in their day-to-day lives. Half of trans and non-binary people have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination. However, having leading organisations like the House of Commons backing our Trans Allies Programme shows there is strong support for trans people across different sectors. We are looking forward to building on this extremely positive news to create more inclusive workplaces across Britain.”
