There will be a General Election on Thursday 8 June 2017.

Following dissolution the House of Commons Media Relations Team will still provide comment or background on questions relating to the House service.

There will however be some changes to the way the House responds to certain enquiries and requests for information, including FOI requests, after Parliament has dissolved (from 00.01am on Wednesday 3 May 2017) to when the new Parliament convenes.

You can contact the media team by sending an email to HOCMediaCorporate@parliament.uk or by calling 0207 219 0969. The enquiries line is open from 9am-6pm Monday-Friday, with a 24/7 out-of-hours service for urgent media enquiries.

Any press notices or press releases will be posted on the House of Commons News Hub, and on the @HOCPress Twitter account.

The House of Commons is keen to proactively use the 2017 General Election to involve and inspire the public in their parliamentary democracy through registering to vote, voting on 8 June, and continuing their engagement after the election.

However following dissolution the work of the House of Commons stops and there are no MPs, but you can still find information about Bills, debates and the work of select committees undertaken in previous Parliaments – including the most recent parliamentary session – on our website.
