Parliament reaches out to voluntary organisations with conference series
8 April 2016
The UK Parliament Outreach and Engagement Service is inviting community groups, voluntary sector organisations and campaign groups around the UK to attend a series of free conferences on how to effectively influence their democracy.
Parliament is keen to demonstrate how charities and campaign groups can communicate their messages, and diversify the voices and stories heard by Parliamentarians.
Free, half -day conferences are being held around the UK, and will enable organisations to participate fully in the work of Parliament, whether by submitting evidence to Select Committee Inquiries, identifying key stakeholders, campaigning on specific issues or understanding petitions.
Booking
Free places can be booked via Eventbrite.
- Book tickets for Belfast on 11 April
- Book tickets for Cardiff on 13 April
- Book tickets for Leeds on 20 April
Each event will provide attendees with the tools to effectively use the democratic system as part of their engagement and communications strategies. Information and advice on campaigning will be on offer, in addition to an in depth overview of how Parliament operates.
Lee Bridges, Director of External Communications, House of Commons said: “It is crucial that the range of voices heard in Parliament is diverse and represents the electorate. These events will give organisations and groups an opportunity to learn more about how important they are in ensuring that our democracy is representative and how they can work with Parliament to campaign effectively.”
