Parliament welcomes Phoebe Hanson and family to see Big Ben up close
15 February 2017
Yesterday Phoebe Hanson and her family visited Parliament for a behind the scenes tour of the Elizabeth Tower, seeing Big Ben up close, and hearing its famous chimes.
The visit followed the heart warming exchange of letters between Phoebe and BBC Radio 4 when she offered to replace Big Ben's bongs during conservation works to the Elizabeth Tower.
Phoebe, and her family, were interviewed on the PM programme on BBC Radio 4 which is available online:
The Bell was still tolling during her visit and will continue to do so for several more months whilst the preparation stage of the restoration works continues.
Although the Elizabeth Tower is now closed for public tours, tours of the rest of the Palace of Westminster will continue to be available.
