Parliamentary staff have been showing their support for 'Tomorrow's Engineers Week' across the Estate.

Tomorrow's Engineers Week (#TEWeek16) has been run between November 7th-11th, with the aim of changing perceptions of engineering among young people, their parents and teachers to inspire future engineers. It is led by EngineeringUK and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Here at Parliament, a number of departments have shown their support for the Week. Team members on Strategic Estates (bicameral), the Lords Science and Technology Committee, and Corporate Services are among those who will be highlighted across UK Parliament's social media feeds on Friday.

Charlotte Simmonds, Deputy Head of EPMO, Corporate Services, said:

"Here in Parliament we are delighted to highlight some of the brilliant women working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Their roles are varied, from Project Support Officers to Committee staff, to engineers working on site or research and digital innovation. Together, they are part of the daily tasks that make Parliament tick, and efforts will undoubtedly help bring through the next generation of engineers."

Paul Jackson, Chief Executive at EngineeringUK, said:

"Engineering makes a vital contribution to the UK economic growth and offers a wealth of varied and rewarding careers. To ensure British engineering continues to thrive we need to inspire future engineers.

Engineering companies will have over 2.5 million job openings over this decade, across a diverse range of disciplines. However, we need many more school children, particularly girls, choosing the GCSEs, A levels, apprenticeships, degrees or other vocational pathways that will lead to engineering careers."
