Houses of Parliament illuminated to mark Queen Elizabeth II's birthday

20 April 2016

At dusk on Thursday 21 April, the river frontage of the Palace of Westminster will be illuminated red, white and blue to celebrate the Her Majesty the Queen's 90th birthday.  Parliament has both historic and ongoing links with the monarchy and we are delighted to mark this very special occasion in this way.

The Houses of Parliament will be lit from 20:00 on 21 April until dawn (approximately 5.15am) on 22 April. There will be no access to the Parliamentary Estate; however, the best spot for filming or photography will be from across the river on the Albert Embankment.

Licenced images will be made available from the Media Relations Group from 21.30 on Thursday 21 April.  Specific requests for images should be sent to hocmediacorporate@parliament.uk.
