Your views welcome – a Behaviour Code for Parliament

The UK Parliament is seeking views on a draft Behaviour Code that sets out the behavioural expectations for all those working in and visiting the Parliamentary Estate.
The draft Code emphasises the need for respect, understanding, and high-standards of professionalism at all times.
The work to develop a new Behaviour Code is part of the urgent action being taken by Parliament to improve processes for dealing with serious allegations or evidence of sexual harassment and bullying.
The development of the Code was a key recommendation from the Working Group on an Independent Complaints and Grievance Policy (ICGP) which was established in November 2017 in response to allegations of inappropriate behaviour and a culture of bullying and sexual harassment at Westminster.
Members of the public, as well as all those working in or visiting Parliament, are invited to email their views by 30 May 2018. We are keen for responses to the following questions:
- Give us your thoughts on the behaviours included in the Code. Is anything missing?
- To help explain the Code to a wide variety of people, how would you describe what these behaviours should look or feel like?
- Is there anything else you would like to raise with the Steering Group about bullying and harassment, including sexual harassment?
