Content and Not Content Lobbies (Aye and No Lobbies)

The corridors to the left and right of the Chamber in both Houses are used as division lobbies when either House divides for a vote. Members cast their vote by walking through either one lobby or the other and are counted as they do so. The lobby to the right of each Chamber - from the perspective of where the Speakers of either House sit - is always used for those voting in favour; the lobby to the left for those voting against.
These corridors are known as the Aye and No Lobbies in the Commons and the Content and Not Content Lobbies in the Lords, due to the different terms used by each House.
