King's High Table in Westminster Hall
Voiceover: The King's High Table was set at the southern end of Westminster Hall on a raised platform called a dais. The table was used in a practical way, as well as being associated with traditional functions. For example it was tradition that each new sovereign went to the Hall for the coronation breakfast and banquet. This was also the seat from which the Crown would dispense the law; therefore by sitting at the table the new sovereign took control of legal authority in a symbolic way.
