Churchill Room

Discover the distinctive allure of the Churchill Room, an exceptional venue located along the lower Centre Curtain Corridor in the House of Commons. Unveiling a contemporary yet historically resonant design, this versatile space offers an ideal setting for lunches, dinners, and receptions that promises a truly immersive experience.

Once known as the Harcourt Room, the Churchill Room emerged from the fusion of three housekeepers’ rooms with a portion of the Peers lower library corridor. In a symbolic transition in 1991, ownership shifted from the Lords to the Commons, marking the genesis of a new era. Honouring the formidable legacy of wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965), the room was reborn as the Churchill Room.

This venue stands as a testament to a harmonious coexistence of the contemporary and historical. While it may not boast the opulent Pugin interiors of the Principal Floor, its distinctive design adds a unique touch to your event. The room, illuminated by natural light and offering a captivating view of the Thames, creates an atmosphere that seamlessly marries the past with the present.

Here, every detail tells a story. Immerse yourself in an ambiance that resonates with the spirit of a great leader as you gaze upon one of Churchill's own paintings and a dignified bronze bust proudly displayed within the room. These tributes serve as poignant reminders of the formidable ex-Prime Minister's enduring influence and the distinguished history that envelops this exceptional space.

Elevate your event in a venue that defies expectations. The Churchill Room invites you to host an occasion that not only breaks from the ordinary but also contributes to the ongoing narrative of this remarkable space. Embrace the unique blend of historical echoes and more contemporary charm and seize the opportunity to transcend the ordinary in the unparalleled setting of the Churchill Room.
