2015: Parliament in the Making
Throughout 2015 Parliament commemorated a series of major anniversaries: 750 years since De Montfort parliament and 800 years since the sealing of Magna Carta, which paved the way for the emergence of the House of Commons and democracy as we know it today.
Project activities took place between April and December 2015 and included an exhibition, education workshops, lectures, community engagement events and a touring display. The archives we worked with were:
- Norfolk Record Office
- Glamorgan Archives
- The Keep
- Tyne and Wear Archives
- Kent History and Library Centre
Case studies from the project have been published on Living Heritage:
- Radical Politicians in the North East
- Elections and Voting in 19th century Norfolk
- S.O. Davies and Workplace Compensation
- Charles Stanhope (3rd Earl Stanhope) and Religious Freedom
- Tufton Beamish and Wildlife Conservation
