The 1868 Norwich election resulted in the election of two MPs: Sir Henry Josias Stracey (Conservative Party candidate) and Sir William Russell (Liberal Party candidate). After the election was announced the third unsuccessful candidate, Jacob Henry Tillett, raised an election petition to dispute the legitimacy of Strachey's win.

Jacob Henry Tillett was a Liberal politician who held seats in the House of Commons at various points between 1870 and 1885. He was known as a political leader of the non-conformist movement in Norwich, and campaigned against corruption.
Sir Henry Josias Stracey
Sir Henry Josias Stracey was a Conservative politician who held seats for various Norfolk constituencies between 1859 and 1869.
