Petition to House of Commons, 1806

This petition to the House of Commons from the Norwich Justices of the Peace requested that the fee simple of the castle be vested in the Justices.  A lease had been granted in 1773 and the Justices had spent much money rebuilding, enlarging and improving the gaol.  They therefore requested that the fee be vested in the Justices.  This was granted by an Act of Parliament in 1806.
