Petition to the Commons in favour of Caroline

Between January and February 1821, 203 petitions from across the country reached the House of Commons, in favour of Caroline. Whilst the original petitions do not survive, the text of these petitions were printed in the appendix of the Votes and Proceedings for 1821. This petition, from Truro, Cornwall, was presented to the House on 24 January 1821. The petitioners described the proceedings against Queen Caroline as ‘arbitrary and unconstitutional', seeking ‘a full redress of her grievances'.
