Sir Edward Heath

Sir Edward Heath was called up for military service in 1941 and received a commission as a second lieutenant in the Royal Artillery. In Britain Heath served with anti-aircraft guns at Liverpool and later participated in the Normandy Landings on 6 June 1944, were he served as an adjutant. Following this, he commanded a battery as a temporary major during Allied campaigns in France and Germany from 1944-1945.

Heath first became a Member of Parliament in 1950 and served as Prime Minister from 1970-1974. This bust by Martin Jennings is displayed in Members Lobby in the Palace of Westminster alongside other busts and sculpture of Prime Ministers.
