Baths and Washhouses poster
This poster, dating from 1859, shows the charges then in place. These are unchanged since the first bath opened in 1851. The Corporation had built three public baths and washhouses by this date.
Comparative to the average earnings of the date, the cheapest option, a third class cold bath at 1d would be around £2.61. Based on the Retail Price Index this would be worth around 30p.
