By researching the records of Sunderland Corporation our group were able to find out about how the local administration was trying to improve public health in Sunderland from the 1830s onwards.

This included drawing up comprehensive By-Laws and creating Sunderland Improvement Bills to try and obtain Parliamentary powers to carry out various works. Find out more by visiting the pages below.
