Dramatisations and letters

These dramatised scenes and letters consider the issue at the heart of the abolition debate: whether slavery was morally justified.

In the first scene three fictional women discuss the rights and wrongs of buying slave-grown sugar.

Equiano's letters, extracts of which appear here, formed part of his, and the Sons of Africa's, abolition campaign in Britain. They are signed Gustavus Vassa, his alternative name.
