Journey to my future, Lizzie Hill

Poem by Lizzie Hill, Year 8

I float up towards heaven
Just for a second or two
Then I drop towards the ocean
Like a bomb crashing into oblivion

I fall into the water feet first
Taking my last breath of hope
Sinking to the bottom of the ocean
The bubbles tickling my feet

I open my eyes and see dark sapphire surround me
Everything is still. Everything is silent
Alone in the thousands of kilometres of water
Alone in this world

I start to wonder what's out there
Forgetting my troubles
Being invited in by the beauty of these waters
Mesmerised.

My eyelids are slowly closing,
Thinking my last thoughts

I pray that my future
Is never as bad as
my past.
