The Scottish Highland Roads and Bridges Act 1803, 43 Geo III c.80, established a Commission to supervise the expenditure of moneys on the construction of Highland roads and bridges.  Thomas Telford appears no fewer than 88 times in the catalogue entries for the Archive of Commissioners, testament to his involvement in a great number of projects.

This estimate for costs of building Contin Bridge, signed by Thomas Telford, was annexed with a letter from James Hope to John Rickman.
