Q: Can you give the different expenses of sending hops by Land carriage and by water?

A: I paid last year a guinea per Ton land carriage from Tunbridge Town and I believe the Medway charges which I pay are about 10 shillings per ton.

Q: You pay a guinea a ton sending by Land and the charge by the Medway is 10s.

A: Yes we did not send it to the Medway I should send it to the Wharf...
