Accounts of farm at Loose, page 1
These are the accounts from a farm near Loose, a village about two miles south of Maidstone, which show that the farmer is still sending his hops to London by road, rather than using the new railway. A branchline to Maidstone from the South Eastern Railway had opened two years previously.
Dec 4 - Paid Mr Larking Bill for Carriage of our Pockets [of hops] to London - £46 14s 1d.
