Architecture: The Station Master's House
This photograph shows the station master's house in Marden. As you leave the railway station it is the first building that you see. It was built for the station master, a significant position which is reflected in this imposing house.
The style of architecture also reflects increasing use of bricks, which can be attributed at least in part to the railway, which dramatically reduced the cost of transporting slates, bricks and other building materials.
