People

One of the key records relating to the South Eastern Railway held by the Parliamentary Archives is the submitted plan, and the accompanying books of reference.

These detail every meadow, wood, orchard, cottage and garden that might be affected by the building of the line, and detail the landowner, the occupier and the current use of the land.

We used this plan and book of reference as a starting point to see what we could find out about some of the people who either owned or occupied land by the railway line.

We also looked at some of the people who came to the village because of the Railway.
